Special Configurations: All circuit boards are manufactured on 0.063" FR-4 epoxy laminates. They have electro-plated solder over a one-ounce copper foil. All connector tabs are gold electro-plated to 0.07 mils with a Mil Spec 1 alloy designed specifically for electrical contacts. We adhere to standards of acceptability as set forth by the Institute of Printed Circuits. Accessories:

History: The PC/104 form factor was developed by Ampro Computers in California in the late 1980's. It is a standard for small format PCs often used for dedicated and embedded control applications. The PC/104 name comes from the popular desktop personal computers initially designed by IBM called the PC, and from the number of pins used to connect the cards together (104). PC/104 cards are much smaller than the ISA-bus cards found in PCs, and stack together eliminating the need for a motherboard, backplane, and card cage. Power requirements and signal drive are reduced to meet the needs of an embedded system. As PC/104 is essentially a PC with different form factor, most of the program development tools used for PCs can be used for a PC/104 system. This reduces the cost of purchasing new tools and also greatly reduces the learning curve for programmers and hardware designers. The PC/104 specification was used internally by Ampro for many years, then published in 1992 to enhance its popularity. Now over 150 vendors manufacture PC/104 compatible products including controller cards, software, and accessories. Additional PC/104 Information: |
